6 Practical Tips to Help Organize Your On-The-Go Lifestyle

!: 6 Practical Tips to Help Organize Your On-The-Go Lifestyle

Are you constantly on-the-go somewhere? Always forgetting something at home in your insane rush. Does it seem like it never ends? Constantly stuck with just one more run to make, one more room to clean, or one more guest to entertain. Well read on and these tips will help you keep your marbles as you are on-the-go.

1. Just grab and go. Use a canvas bag of choice and make it a habit to place your things in it for your next outdoor run. For example mail you need to get out, books that need to go back to the library, even tuck your grocery list in it. I cannot tell you how many times I have left mine on the counter. Hang the bag on a doorknob by the exit of your home you use and this way you will not forget the things you need to take with you for your outdoor errands.

*Extra tip: Make sure to use it on the way in to bring in the mail or groceries or even more books you brought back from the library, this way you will not leave it in the car and this insures you will have it handy for use on the next outdoor run.

2. An expandable pocket folder is a great way to keep paper organized anywhere. They are durable and come in many fun prints and colors. A great solution to the paper madness; I keep weekly newsletters the kids bring home from school, bills to be paid, and personal reading material I might have picked up. It's a perfect size and it works as a good writing surface on-the-go so I don't mind sticking it in my tote bag when I might be on my way to a doctors appointment, park time with the kids or picking them up from practice. I am usually guaranteed a wait; so I use that time to catch up on stuff I meant to read or writing some checks for bills.

*Extra tip: Keep a pocket for debit receipts, this way you won't misplace them and they are neatly tucked away for when you are ready to balance your checkbook.

3. Keep bins in your trunk to help organize the variety of things that end up in the car. I find that two plastic bins work well. They are also easy to clean once they get dirty. I use one for clothes. An extra sweater or pair of sweats comes in handy for the unexpected. If the kids get wet at the park and you still have another run to make, you are covered. There is no need to run home and change wasting time and gas. Another is set aside for sports gear. We have roller blades, softball gear, baseball mitts, and kites that accompany us on occasion, it saves time unloading the car, and things don't get lost under the seats. If you have no need for the above try a bin for the car necessities such as paper towels, window cleaner, or a bottle of motor oil.

4. Hire a house cleaner If you think you cannot afford it, I am sure you can. There is something else you can cut down on to make a little extra room for this valuable service. Even if it's only for a couple of hours a week, it will be one less chore for you to worry about. You can target the areas you want cleaned weekly and this will be a good way for you to free up some time for yourself and keep that manicure in shape a little longer.

*Extra tip: Schedule your extra help to come in mid-week if possible this way if you plan to entertain company by the weekend the cleaning has already been done and you can kick back and sip iced tea before they arrive.

5. Use a magazine tote for your files. If you need to take part of your desk with you because of your line of work then this is an easy way to get things around. I like these totes because they are sturdy and stylish and there are no clasps to fumble with or flaps to flip. Easily store a few files, extra battery for your laptop, business cards and whatever else you need. Try keeping doubles on some items you need almost always such as a calculator, this way you don't have to always worry about packing it, just leave it in the tote and worry about getting those important files and presentation literature instead.

6. Stay Focused. We all know tending to one thing almost always sets off the domino effect to a list of others that require attention. Schedule your tasks accordingly and stick to the plan at hand. It's easy to be sidetracked with lots of other things that become noticed as you are in the middle of doing one thing. So try to avoid picking up the phone and being distracted from your goal. Have a basket near you so that if you come across a cup that belongs in the kitchen but you forgot to take it there, a t-shirt that should be in the laundry room, or a book that you are done with and need to retire it to the bookshelf you can easily stick it in the basket and make rounds tucking things away after you are done with your set task. This way you avoid wasting time running around the house and becoming sidetracked with other tasks.
